Kerridge’s Bar & Grill at Corinthia Hotel London
I had a super time here, enjoyed the bar vibe, visited on a Friday evening met some friends for after work drinks. The bar was pretty busy, but the service was good, after a few drinks decided to stay for dinner, and the service was very sharp and super attentive. It seemed every time we needed something there was always a manager or server right there. I particularly enjoyed the food, simple but great flavours, clearly a few talented boys in the kitchen. Try the smoked haddock and black pudding starter and the rib eye as a main, finished with some Great British cheese. When choosing a hotel in London this restaurant alone would bring me back to the Corinthia which was equally superb. Follow on Instagram
Paranga, Camps Bay, Cape Town – This restaurant remains one of my favourite places to visit anywhere in the world. It is the birthplace of cool. I have been visiting since 2002 and it really is the coolest place on earth, a stone throw from the ocean. Great music and atmosphere, always packed to capacity with the cool folk. The cocktails are fab, great for crayfish, sushi and seafood platters. A great day time boozing venue and for sundowners. Follow on Instagram and Facebook
Morimotto, Mondrian Hotel, Doha, Qatar – On a recent business trip, I stayed at the Mondrian which is a super cool place. It is very food and beverage driven with a lot of outlets to choose from including a Wolfgang Puck restaurant. Morimotto was a great experience, knowing the chef Tim Furek of course helped. After some wine at the bar, I enjoyed a sushi tasting followed by some great cooking. Try the sushi, tuna pizza, robata and popcorn shrimp. Visit website.
Hotel Costes, Paris – One of the most exciting hotels to stay in when in Paris – I have been here 3 times this year and would really battle to be convinced to stay anywhere else. I am not a total fan of Hotel restaurants, but this dining room is something special, you are served by fashion models and the music is incredible. It is really hard to leave the hotel when the restaurant offers so much. It has an indoor-outdoor area; tables are very small which is typical in Paris but really, it’s where all the beautiful people hang out. I had the foie gras terrine, scallops as a main and finished with some great cheese. Well worth a trip. Follow on Instagram
Saint Restaurant, The Marc, Sandton – The Food Concepts360 went there for a team building dinner. We ordered a number of dishes including the Arancini, Carpaccio, Burrata, Flame grilled chicken, Pizza, Lamb meatballs and Penne, Carbonara and Octopus which came out top of the class. The team had rounds of Le lude MCC, cocktails as well as Spier Ideology Sauvignon Blanc. Dessert was also a number of options that included the Chocolate mousse, Tiramisu, Orange and Campari cake and the Amaretto and ricotta pudding. On desserts we could not pick a winner. The music was a bit loud but not unbearable- there was adequate spacing between the tables, the bathrooms had the little saints’ basins in line ‘Saint’ theme. It is a young and vibey restaurant and the Exec Chef and owner , David Higgs, stood at the front as though watching his beautiful creations being devoured. Follow on Instagram
